Chennai's Only COVD Certified In-Clinic Centre

Vision Therapy in Chennai
Specialist In-Clinic & Telehealth Care

Caring Vision Therapy is the only COVD and OVDRA internationally certified vision therapy centre in Tamil Nadu. Based in Ashok Nagar, our clinic offers complete in-person binocular vision assessment with a full equipment suite – and all programmes are also available via secure telehealth for patients across the region.

Tamil Nadu's Specialist Binocular Vision Centre

Chennai has one of India's strongest ophthalmology ecosystems – but ophthalmology and functional vision therapy are different disciplines. Cataract, glaucoma, and retinal disease sit in ophthalmology. Binocular vision dysfunction – how the two eyes converge, align, focus, and sustain effort together – sits in COVD-certified optometric neurology. These are rarely assessed in the same clinic.

Caring Vision Therapy's Ashok Nagar centre is the only facility in Tamil Nadu equipped and certified for the full scope of binocular vision assessment and therapy. Our clinic serves patients from across Chennai – Adyar, T. Nagar, Velachery, Anna Nagar, OMR, Nungambakkam – and patients who travel from Coimbatore, Madurai, and Pondicherry for in-person assessment or procedures not available via telehealth. For patients outside Chennai, every programme in our clinical portfolio is also available via secure telehealth.

What Sets Our Chennai Centre Apart

COVD & OVDRA Internationally CertifiedThe only internationally board-certified vision therapy specialists in Tamil Nadu. COVD/OVDRA certification is the global benchmark for this discipline – not replicated at standard optometry or ophthalmology practices.
Full In-Clinic Equipment SuiteCycloplegic refraction, corneal topography, visual field testing, and specialist diagnostic instruments not available at general optometry practices or via telehealth. Essential for squint, neuro-optometry, myopia management, and specialty lens fitting.
In-Clinic and Telehealth – Same SpecialistsEvery programme can be delivered in-clinic at Ashok Nagar or via secure telehealth – or a combination of both. Patients from Pondicherry, Coimbatore, and further travel for the initial in-clinic assessment and continue via telehealth for ongoing sessions.
Ethics-First Clinical PhilosophyWe do not recommend treatment that is not indicated, and we do not advise against treatment that clearly is. Every assessment delivers a clear, honest clinical picture – regardless of whether it means we treat you, refer you, or tell you that watchful waiting is the right choice.
4.9★ Rating · 20,000+ Patients16+ years of clinical practice. The outcomes data behind our rating reflects actual patient results across conditions, ages, and severities – not a curated sample.

Vision Therapy FAQ – Chennai

Is Caring Vision Therapy the only COVD-certified vision therapy centre in Chennai?
Yes. We are the only internationally board-certified vision therapy centre in Tamil Nadu. COVD certification is the international standard for functional and binocular vision care – covering specialist assessment, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. Our Ashok Nagar clinic is the clinical hub for patients across Tamil Nadu and patients who travel from Pondicherry, Coimbatore, and further for in-person care.
My ophthalmologist has recommended squint surgery for my child. Should I consider vision therapy first?
For intermittent and accommodative squints, vision therapy often resolves the deviation without surgery. For constant squints, therapy can reduce the angle and improve binocular function even when surgery is also appropriate. We recommend an independent COVD assessment before any squint surgery decision – not to delay necessary treatment, but to ensure it is the right decision for your child's specific squint type. Our assessment will tell you clearly what is treatable without surgery, and what is not.
I am in my 30s and have had a lazy eye since childhood. Is treatment still possible?
Yes. The clinical consensus that amblyopia treatment must occur before age 7 has been substantially revised by research over the last two decades. Adults with lazy eye can achieve meaningful improvement in acuity and binocular function through structured vision therapy. Results vary by severity and how consistently the programme is followed, but the ceiling for improvement in adults is significantly higher than previously believed. We treat adult amblyopia at our Chennai clinic regularly, with good outcomes.
What happens at the first in-clinic appointment at your Ashok Nagar centre?
Your first appointment is a comprehensive binocular vision assessment – typically 60 to 75 minutes. We assess convergence, accommodation, eye movement, binocularity, and visual processing using standardised clinical tests. For cases requiring it, cycloplegic refraction and corneal topography are performed in-clinic. A written clinical report follows within 48 hours, including a clear diagnosis, treatment recommendation, and whether in-clinic, telehealth, or a combination is most appropriate for your case.
Can I do the initial assessment in-clinic and then switch to telehealth for ongoing sessions?
Yes – this is a common model for our patients from outside Chennai. The in-clinic assessment gives us access to equipment and tests that telehealth cannot replicate. Ongoing weekly sessions are then delivered via secure telehealth. Progress reassessments can be telehealth for most conditions, with an in-clinic visit when the clinical picture requires it. We help you choose the format that best suits your location, schedule, and clinical needs.
