Rabindra Kumar Pandey

Founder & Optometric Director

M.Optom COVD/OVDRA Fellow & Member FAAO MCOptom-UK Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Vision Therapy Specialist

Rabindra Kumar Pandey started Caring Vision Therapy in 2010 with one conviction: that too many patients were being dismissed with a "your eyes are fine" when something was clearly going wrong with their vision. A board-certified neuro-optometric rehabilitation specialist, he brings 16 years of focused clinical experience to every patient he sees, having treated more than 10,000 individuals with functional vision disorders, learning-related vision problems, and neurological visual dysfunctions.

His particular interest lies in the intersection of vision and neurology: specifically how disruptions in the way the eyes and brain communicate can affect reading, learning, attention, and recovery after brain injury. He holds fellowship with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), a Member of the College of Optometrists UK (MCOptom), and an active member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA), bringing internationally recognised clinical standards to practice in India.

The most important thing we do is listen. A thorough clinical history, combined with the right functional tests, tells us almost everything we need to know, and it prevents us from treating the wrong problem.

Priya Pandey

Founder & Clinical Director

M.Optom MCOptom (UK) FCSO (USA) (PhD) Paediatric Vision Therapy Neuro-Functional Vision Care

Priya Pandey co-founded Caring Vision Therapy 16 years ago with a transformative vision: to redefine how functional and neuro-optometric care is understood and delivered in India. Her founding conviction is rooted in a powerful clinical insight - vision is not merely optical clarity, but a complex neurological function that directly influences learning, behaviour, development, and overall quality of life.

Under her clinical leadership, the practice has evolved into a structured, evidence-informed institution recognised for precision-based assessment systems, individualised therapy planning, and a strong interdisciplinary model of care. With over 16 years of clinical experience, she has advanced a neuroscience-driven understanding of visual function - focusing on the intricate relationship between the eyes and the brain, and how disruptions in eye tracking, convergence, focusing, and visual integration can significantly impact learning ability, attention regulation, motor coordination, and cognitive development.

Through her leadership, she has supported more than 10,000 patients with binocular vision disorders, learning-related visual dysfunctions, developmental visual delays, and neurological visual impairments - distinguished by clinical depth, diagnostic precision, and a strong emphasis on tailored rehabilitation strategies that address each patient's unique functional needs.

In recognition of her contribution to behavioural and functional vision care, she was awarded the Fellowship of the College of Syntonic Optometry (FCSO) at the 90th International Conference on Light and Vision held on 8 June 2023 in Rapid City. She is the first - and currently the only - Indian optometrist to receive this distinguished international fellowship, reflecting her global standing in the field of vision rehabilitation.

Children do not always know how to describe what they are experiencing. Our job is to notice the signs they cannot articulate, and then explain what we found in language their parents actually understand.

Why Choose Our Team

What Makes Our Clinical
Team Different

We are not the largest clinic in India. But we are among the most focused. These are the things our patients notice when they choose to work with us.

Both Founders Still Practising

Rabindra and Priya see patients every week. This is not a clinic managed by administrators while clinicians work in the background. You meet the people who built this practice.

Diagnosis Before Anything Else

We do not recommend therapy until we are certain of the diagnosis. Our comprehensive functional vision evaluations cover 20+ parameters, and every finding is explained before we suggest a next step.

No Over-Treatment, Ever

We only recommend vision therapy when the clinical evidence supports it. If your concern does not require therapy, we will say so clearly and direct you toward whatever actually helps.

Outcomes You Can Measure

Progress in vision therapy should be visible and verifiable. We set clear benchmarks, track every metric, and run formal re-evaluations so you can see exactly how far you have come.

Professional Certifications & Memberships

These are not credentials we display for appearance. Each one represents real post-graduate training, clinical examination, and ongoing professional development through the most respected organisations in vision therapy and neuro-optometry worldwide.

College of Optometrists in Vision Development

The world's leading board certification body for vision therapy and developmental optometry — rigorous examination and ongoing continuing education.

American Academy of Optometry

Among the highest distinctions in the optometric profession worldwide — requiring evidence of advanced clinical knowledge, scholarly contribution, and peer review.

College of Optometrists (UK)

Professional standard set by the UK's chartered body for optometry — rigorous training, ongoing development, and commitment to evidence-based clinical practice.

Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association

Specialist organisation focusing on visual recovery following traumatic brain injury, stroke, and acquired neurological conditions.

College of Syntonic Optometry

Professional body for syntonic optometry, supporting the use of light therapy as an adjunct to vision therapy in appropriate clinical cases.

Visual Snow Initiative

International organisation for Visual Snow Syndrome research, advocacy, and patient support — reflecting our commitment to neuro-visual conditions.

Indian Optometric Association

India's national professional body for optometrists, supporting clinical standards and continuing education across the country.

Optometry Council of India

India's statutory regulatory authority for optometric practice, ensuring our clinical work meets the legal and professional standards required to practise in India.

What Our Patients Say

Trusted by Families Across India & Globally

Convergence Insufficiency

My son had been struggling with reading for two years before we came to see Rabindra. The assessment was more thorough than anything we had experienced before, and the therapy plan was explained clearly at every stage. Within a few months his reading stamina had improved significantly and the headaches had stopped.

Priya M. Parent, Chennai
Binocular Vision Disorder

Priya spent a long time understanding our daughter's history before she even started the formal assessment. That same care ran through the entire therapy programme. The results genuinely changed how our daughter engages with school, and we appreciated the honesty at every step about what to expect and when.

Rajesh K. Parent, Hyderabad
Post-TBI Vision Rehabilitation

Following my traumatic brain injury I struggled with visual fatigue, double vision, and an inability to read for more than a few minutes. Rabindra's telehealth rehabilitation programme systematically addressed each issue with measurable checkpoints throughout. My reading ability is now largely restored and I was able to return to work.

Conditions Our Certified Specialists Treat

Every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive functional vision evaluation — not assumptions.

Binocular vision dysfunction — eyes that do not work together
Oculomotor dysfunction — poor eye tracking and movement control
Accommodative dysfunction — difficulty sustaining visual focus
Visual processing disorder — the brain struggles to interpret what the eyes see
Lazy eye (amblyopia) and squint (strabismus) — non-surgical therapy
Post-TBI, concussion, and stroke neuro-optometric rehabilitation

Common Questions About Our Specialists

What is COVD certification and why does it matter?

The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is the international body that certifies specialists in evidence-based vision therapy and binocular vision rehabilitation. A COVD Fellow has demonstrated advanced clinical competency in diagnosing and treating binocular vision dysfunction, visual processing disorder, and related conditions — with supervised patient care hours, written examinations, and case presentations.

Can a certified vision therapist treat children and adults?

Yes. Our certified specialists treat patients from 4 months to 80+ years. For children, we focus on oculomotor dysfunction, learning-related vision problems, amblyopia, and convergence insufficiency. For adults, we specialise in neuro-optometric rehabilitation after TBI, stroke, and concussion, as well as binocular vision dysfunction and digital eye strain.

How is your team different from a standard eye clinic?

A standard eye clinic prescribes glasses and treats eye disease. Our team specialises exclusively in functional vision therapy and neuro-optometric rehabilitation — a clinical discipline requiring separate specialist training. We measure how the visual system functions under demanding conditions and design personalised programmes to retrain it.
