Evidence-Based Vision Therapy Accessible from Adyar in Under 30 Minutes
Our clinic at Plot No. 1134, 1st Floor, 16th Avenue, Ashok Nagar, Chennai 600083 is approximately 10–12 km from Adyar — around 20–30 minutes by car via the Inner Ring Road or ECR. Many patients from Adyar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Kotturpuram, and Adambakkam make this journey regularly for specialist vision therapy that is not available at a general eye clinic.
Vision therapy is a supervised programme of evidence-based exercises and techniques that train the brain and visual system to work together more effectively. It is used to treat functional visual conditions — convergence insufficiency, amblyopia (lazy eye), accommodative disorders, oculomotor dysfunction, and visual perceptual deficits — that cannot be corrected by glasses or contact lenses alone. Our programmes are individually designed after a comprehensive vision assessment and are delivered by COVD-certified developmental optometrists.
Children who struggle at school despite normal visual acuity, adults recovering from a stroke or concussion, and patients with neurological conditions affecting vision all attend from across South Chennai. If you are based in Adyar or the surrounding neighbourhoods and are exploring vision therapy, we encourage you to schedule an initial evaluation to understand whether vision therapy is appropriate for your specific condition.

Questions from Adyar Patients
How far is your clinic from Adyar?
Our clinic at Ashok Nagar is approximately 10–12 km from Adyar, which is typically a 20–30 minute drive via the Inner Ring Road. Patients from Adyar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, and Kotturpuram regularly attend. We recommend booking appointments during off-peak hours to minimise travel time.
Do you treat both children and adults from Adyar?
Yes. Our developmental optometrists treat patients of all ages — from toddlers with convergence or focusing difficulties to adults recovering from stroke, concussion, or traumatic brain injury. Paediatric vision therapy for school-age children (learning-related vision problems, lazy eye, squint) is our most common referral from South Chennai families.
What does the initial vision evaluation involve?
The initial evaluation is a comprehensive functional vision assessment lasting 60–90 minutes. It goes well beyond a standard visual acuity test to assess eye teaming (binocular vision), focusing (accommodation), tracking (oculomotor skills), and visual perceptual processing. At the end of the assessment, you receive a detailed report and treatment recommendations. You do not need a referral to book an evaluation.
Is vision therapy covered by insurance in India?
Coverage varies by insurer and policy. Some TPA-linked policies cover vision therapy sessions under specialist outpatient benefits. We provide detailed receipts and clinical documentation that you can submit to your insurer. We recommend checking with your insurance provider before your first appointment. We also issue a clinical summary letter on request to support reimbursement claims.
