Five Stages to Clarity

No shortcuts. No guesswork. Every patient receives the same meticulous clinical rigour - from the very first conversation to the final therapy session.

Stage 1

Initial Consultation

Your journey begins here - a dedicated conversation between you and your clinician. We take time to truly understand your concerns, symptoms, daily challenges, and history before any test begins. No rush. No assumptions.

60 – 90 minutes

What We Discuss

  • Chief visual complaint & onset
  • Developmental & medical history
  • Academic or occupational impact
  • Family visual history
  • Prior therapies or interventions
  • Digital & lifestyle habits

What to Bring

  • Previous eye examination reports
  • School reports or IEP documents
  • Medical or neurological records
  • Current spectacles / contact lenses
  • List of current medications
  • Parent / caregiver (for children)

Key Outcome

A thorough understanding of the patient's unique needs and a preliminary clinical picture - forming the foundation for all subsequent evaluations.

Stage 2

Tests Recommended

Based on the consultation, your clinician recommends a tailored battery of neuro-optometric and binocular vision tests. Each assessment is selected with precision - only what is clinically meaningful for your specific presentation.

90 – 120 minutes  ·  may span 1–2 visits

Visual Acuity & Refraction

Clarity at distance and near, prescription accuracy

Binocular Vision Assessment

Cover test, Worth 4-dot, stereopsis, NPC

Vergence & Accommodation

Convergence, divergence, accommodative facility

Oculomotor Evaluation

Pursuits, saccades, fixation stability

Visual Perceptual Testing

Processing speed, visual memory, figure-ground

Neuro-Optometric Assessment

Contrast sensitivity, visual fields, spatial perception

Syntonics Evaluation

Peripheral visual field, autonomic balance screening

Primitive Reflex Screening

Neuro-developmental integration assessment

Key Outcome

A complete, evidence-based diagnostic profile identifying the precise nature, severity, and neurological underpinning of the patient's visual dysfunction.

Stage 3

Therapy Plan Discussion

Once test findings are compiled, your clinician presents them clearly - in plain language, without jargon. Together, you discuss the proposed therapy roadmap, ask questions, and collaboratively agree on the path forward.

30 – 45 minutes

What You'll Learn

  • Full explanation of findings
  • Your specific diagnosis & severity
  • Why this therapy is recommended
  • Expected programme duration
  • Session frequency & format
  • Home exercise requirements

Plan Components

  • Weekly in-clinic sessions
  • Prescribed home activities
  • Lens or prism prescriptions (if needed)
  • Syntonics phototherapy (if indicated)
  • Telehealth continuation option
  • Informed consent documentation

Key Outcome

Full informed consent and a shared, transparent therapy roadmap - ensuring the patient and clinician are aligned in purpose, method, and expectation.

Stage 4

Goal & Sub-Goals

Therapy without measurable goals is guesswork. Before a single session begins, we establish clear SMART objectives with every patient - primary outcomes and progressive sub-goals that track each milestone on the road to recovery.

15 – 20 minutes  ·  during the planning session

Primary Outcome Goal

The single most important functional improvement - e.g., "eliminate double vision during reading" or "achieve comfortable binocular vision at near".

Progressive Sub-Goals

Milestone checkpoints broken into early, mid, and late therapy phases - each with specific clinical measurements to confirm progress.

Baseline Metrics Recorded

Quantified baseline measurements (vergence ranges, acuity scores, perceptual indices) to objectively track change across the programme.

Functional Daily Goals

Real-life performance targets - "read for 45 minutes without headache", "maintain focus during school", "drive comfortably at night".

Key Outcome

Clear, measurable, patient-centred objectives that make progress visible and keep therapy purposeful at every session - for patient and clinician alike.

Stage 5

Execution

This is where the plan becomes results. Structured, clinician-supervised sessions using specialised instruments - combined with a home programme - progressively rewire the visual system toward lasting functional improvement.

12 – 36 weeks  ·  weekly sessions, 45–60 min each

In-Clinic Weekly Sessions

Supervised therapy using vectograms, prisms, anaglyphs, lenses, syntonics, and digital platforms - each activity calibrated to current performance.

Prescribed Home Programme

Specific daily exercises (10–20 minutes) prescribed per session to reinforce in-clinic gains and accelerate neurological integration.

Progress Reviews Every 4–6 Sessions

Objective re-measurement against baseline and sub-goals. Therapy is adapted, intensified, or adjusted based on clinical response.

Discharge Planning & Maintenance

When primary goals are achieved, a formal discharge summary is provided with long-term maintenance guidelines and follow-up schedule.

Key Outcome

Measurable, documented improvement in binocular visual function - enabling patients to read, learn, work, and live without the limitations that brought them here.
